You assume your family will know what to do when you die, but this assumption can be wrong. Without having meaningful conversations, like the ones you have during a Will creation, it can be hard for your family to know exactly what to do.
You get to choose your executor. If you have a will, you get to choose who will be responsible after you die. You get to choose someone who will be able to focus and think clearly during this difficult time.
If you do not have a will, an important relationship to you could be ignored by the courts. For example, a common law relationship could be completely ignored.
If you have a will, you can have a responsible emergency plan in place if you have children or dependents that survive and will need assistance.
If you have a will, you can have a plan in place for your pets.
If you want to donate or have a part of your assets be given to charity it needs to be in your will.
