Mediation vs the Turtle Train

Have you ever read the story of the tortoise and the hare? “Slow and steady wins the race” they told us, and for the most part, it’s a good lesson about focus and doing your best; but, the idea of “slow and steady wins the race” is not always true when it comes to your separation.

Certainly, no one should rashly make decisions after an emotional and stressful event like a separation, but what impact does the process have on how smoothly your separation can go?

Unfortunately, the court process moves very slowly. Even in the best of cases, it could be years before your matter makes its way through the system – the court process moves like a heard of tortoises, or a “turtle train” as my son aptly called it. When a dispute is slow moving, however, it can get worse with time rather than better.

The wonderful thing for you is that you have options. Mediation is a great option that could be available; and the wonderful part is that you get to have control over the process. You are the decision-makers for your family, and the process is much faster than the “turtle train.” If you want to know more about Mediation to see if it is a viable option for you, feel free to reach out and ask.
